Michael Lukich, B.Sc.
Michael retired after 35 years of service from Toronto Water, the last 8 years as Manager of the Toronto Water Laboratory.
His laboratories were responsible for the analysis of samples from a variety of sources including drinking water from source to tap, wastewater, industrial wastes, landfills as well as lakes and streams. Michael has facilitated many important changes to Toronto Water’s laboratories in response to significant regulatory impacts stemming from the Walkerton tragedy such as operator licensing and certification, laboratory accreditation and licensing.
As an active member of AWWA (OWWA) Michael remains engaged in water industry training and is a trainer for a major water training company in Ontario

Bill Semaan
Bill is a certified Electrician (309D) who has over 35 years of advanced water and wastewater experience in Toronto Water (Electrical Instrumentation Specialist) and more recently as Instrumentation & Control/Electrical consultant with AECOM.
Bill has direct experience with numerous complex, multi-million dollar water and wastewater infrastructure projects and is highly respected in his field for his technical knowledge and getting projects done.
Combining technical abilities with business and interpersonal skills, Bill is a welcome addition to the DSI board.

Ron Baran
Prior to retirement, Ron had successful careers in two major industries, 22 years with Canadian Pacific in the mechanical maintenance section managing redesign, reconstruction and reconditioning of CPR’s fleet of locomotives and over 20 years in the water industry as Chief Works Supervisor – Mechanical for Metro Works and Toronto Water.
Getting things done and done properly were hallmarks of Ron’s approach. Teaching, mentoring and problem solving made Ron a force with every organization he has been part of.
It is with profound sadness for the board to announce the passing of Ron Baran on November 1, 2023.
We will miss his mechanical genius, problem analysis skills and pleasant personality. Rest in peace Ron.
